Last year, we started a series highlighting the amazing Lilt employees (or Liltonians, as we like to call ourselves). We’re excited to continue that series this year with some of our team leaders helping to pave the way for a multilingual global future. Get to know more about the faces behind the work, their backgrounds, what makes them tick, and what makes Lilt the place for them.

Meet Kel Commins, Lilt's Director of Solutions that helps to optimize our localization services and technologies for our customers' global experience strategies. We sat down with Kel to learn more about his background, his experiences at Lilt, and what he does to recharge outside of work.

What's your role at Lilt, and what does your day to day look like?

I lead our Solutions team, which is focused on technologies used by our customers and our Production teams. My days can be quite varied with time and attention spent with customers and colleagues to put Lilt's technical solutions to use as well as to continue to innovate. As part of rapidly growing company, sharing knowledge and experience enables growth and success of our customers. So more and more of my attention is turned toward this.

What is/was your favorite project to work on at Lilt and why?

So far, my favorite projects have been those that allow Lilt to make technology deployments simpler and quicker. One specific ongoing project has been oriented toward integrations to make multi-system workflows cohesive.

What led you to join Lilt?

The innovative use of technology — starting with Lilt's unique deployment of MT and then reinforced in many other areas including integration architecture and file handling/filtering — drew me here. I expect innovations will continue to expand into other functional areas as well as deepen in their capabilities.

Describe life at Lilt in three words.

Encouraging, varied, challenging.

It's inspiring and equally rewarding to empower our customers with some of the industry's best technologies and services for their global experience strategies. Witnessing successes and overcoming hurdles make each day interesting and challenging.

What is your "happy place" outside of work? What do you like to do for fun?

I really enjoy woodworking and home renovation...my happy place is definitely my workshop!

What is your favorite quote or personal mantra?

Tough times never last but tough people do.

Toughness. One of the best parts about working at Lilt is the challenge that comes with problem-solving and innovating new technologies that meet high-quality standards and expectations. 

If you could learn to speak any language(s), what would it be and why?

Hebrew. I have always wanted to learn this language!
