Last year, we started a series highlighting the amazing Lilt employees (or Liltonians, as we like to call ourselves). We’re excited to continue that series this year with some of our team leaders helping to pave the way for a multilingual global future. Get to know more about the faces behind the work, their backgrounds, what makes them tick, and what makes Lilt the place for them.

Meet Laura Dunn, a Production Manager strategizing and servicing the localization needs of our customers to meet top-of-the-line standards. We sat down with Laura to learn more about her background, her experiences at Lilt, and what she does to recharge outside of work.

What's your role at Lilt, and what does your day to day look like?

As a Production Manager, I would say my days are pretty varied! I'm checking up on projects, following up with linguists, updating clients and logging information. I've had to learn when to follow up more with linguists on certain projects and how each account likes to be communicated with. I do lots of check-ins with my Strategist as we solve problems and get as much done as we can.

What is/was your favorite project to work on at Lilt and why?

I've loved so many for lots of reasons, but when we were able to translate a brand new company's website, I was excited. They are stemming off of one of the largest technology companies in the world, so we are helping to set the tone for their company launch and put their best foot forward. I definitely felt like I was helping make a big difference for this new company.

What led you to join Lilt?

I was looking for a new challenge and I was immediately drawn to Lilt when I read about what we do. I wanted to work somewhere that was doing something worthwhile and the localization industry was something new and exciting to me. It's such a tangible and important aspect of any organization!

Describe life at Lilt in three words.

Teamwork, problem-solving, and productive. Lilt is a place where collaboration thrives. It's always super exciting and rewarding to be working on multiple projects with different team members and partners to empower our customers to successfully deliver global customer experiences.

What is your "happy place" outside of work? What do you like to do for fun?

I was an art history major in college, so I get to museums as much as I can! I'm a member at the Indianapolis Museum of Art and I like to go by myself on weekends if I need a reset.

What is your favorite quote or personal mantra?

My favorite word is "and". It brings realities together even if they're in tension with each other. Helps remind me there is always space for things to be better or reframed!

What Lilt value do you resonate with the most? (Toughness, Humility, Quickness, and Meticulousness)

Humility, because it's my favorite. I think it opens doors to connection with yourself, with others, and with growing in your day to day.

If you could learn to speak any language(s), what would it be and why?

I'd choose Chinese! I know some romance languages but I'd love to have experience with a character-based language.
